For all of history mankind has created vertical art to preserve its important moments and feelings, to share the experience with those who follow. In today’s society of disposability, I see the need for reclamation and rebirth; new life crafted of the earth, from wood, metal, and glass, applied to an image with care and passion to maintain its connection to us.
My family’s farm is 100 years old and filled with antiques and tools collected and cherished over generations. The objects that remain in our lives for so many years, that endure through our hardships and triumphs, bear silent witness to the passage of time and what it is to be human. They inherit a tangible essence beyond mere physicality. A picture is worth far more than a thousand words.
